Starting Aug. 11, the U.S. Census Bureau will begin visiting households that have not yet completed the 2020 Census forms online.
All federal census takers are required to wear personal protective equipment and will follow safety protocols, however, the Census Bureau strongly encourages the public to respond online to avoid the need for an in-person visit.
Census forms can be filled out at mycensus2020.gov or call 844-330-2020 to learn how to be counted this year.
Numbers tabulated by the Census Bureau determine congressional representation for each community, as well as the amount of funding support that villages and the county receive for the next decade.
In Illinois currently, the self-response rate for the U.S. Census to date is 67.5%, while the self-response rate in Hawthorn Woods is 81.3%, Lake Zurich 83.3%, and Mundelein 76.3%. All three villages are above the norm for Illinois.
